Happy New Year! As if you needed another reason to be pumped this January, I’ve got 5 of them: 5 things to look forward to in 2015! Cheers!
1. Erica Bryan’s NEW Video + First Show of the Year
Yesterday my girl Erica Bryan released a brand NEW music video, a cover of Bad Suns’ Cardiac Arrest like you’ve never heard it before. Start the New Year with NEW music! Watch the latest video from Erica Bryan on her YouTube channel now! AND catch Erica in Atlanta later this month for her first show of 2015. She’ll be opening for Old Dominion at Smith’s Olde Bar on January 21, plus she’s got something special in store for the first ten to arrive – FREE beer anyone?
2. Laurel Hill Hair Accessories
I’m absolutely obsessed with the jewelry of Athens-born, California-based designer Laurel Hill. I cannot wait til she releases her 2015 collection, which includes a NEW line of hair accessories! Stay tuned to her website and Facebook page this month for more details!
3. GIRLS, HBO
It goes without saying I marked my calendar months ago when they set the official premiere date of HBO’s GIRLS Season 4. I cannot wait to see what my fellow writer Lena Dunham has worked up for this season’s script!
4. Blog Conferences
This one is for all my bloggers out there. Fellow blogger Hillary Dixon of Style in a Small Town was awesome enough to share this comprehensive blog conference directory for 2015. I’m paying it forward and passing it along to all of you! No matter where you live… whether you’re a veteran blogger or just entertaining the idea of starting a blog in the New Year… this list is worth checking out!
5. NYFW F/W 2015
Last but certainly not least, NYFW F/W 2015. I’m always in eager anticipation of fashion week and the amazing energy it brings to the fashion community. However, this year I can’t even put into words how ecstatic I am to have the thrill of experiencing fashion week while living in New York City. I have no idea what type of opportunities I may or may not have to get involved come February, but the simple notion of being in the city and buzzing off the NYFW energy will be enough for me!
Are you a complete TV junkie like I am? Thanks my DVR my life doesn’t have to revolve around my TV schedule or else I’d be tied to the couch almost every night of the week. My name is Cait Marie, and I’m addicted to TV.
Did I mention that half the reason I’m obsessed with certain shows is because of the fashion? Some of my favorite television stars have stellar style both on and off screen, and today I’m taking a look at two of them in a double dose of TV fashion: Ilana Glazer of Broad City and Emilia Clarke of Game of Thrones.
aka Ilana Wexler of Broad City on Comedy Central
Last week rapped up the first season of Broad City. If you didn’t catch this show, you seriously missed out! Imagine a cable version of HBO’s Girls crossed with Workaholics, another Comedy Central original that is arguably Broad City’s male counterpart. The show follows two young ladies, Ilana Wexler and Abbi Abrams, and their lives in New York City. The series was developed from the web series by real life friends Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson, who also star in the show. It’s also worth mentioning that the ever talented, stylish, and hilarious Amy Pohler is one of the executive producers of Broad City.
Ilana’s style on the show has drawn a lot of attention and created a significant buzz. It’s bold, unique, unapologetic, and somewhat inappropriate to say the least. Basically, it completely mirrors Ilana’s character. Kudos to costume designer Staci Greenbaum for hitting the nail on the head with Ilana’s wardrobe. Throughout the show, Ilana can be spotted in brands like American Apparel, H&M, and Doc Martens along with other pieces that seem to resemble flea market finds. Her wardrobe really reflects one that would be had by a typical broke twenty-something living in NYC. My favorite look from the season was her ensemble in the finale (pictured above), and I’ll show you how to attain the look!

aka Daenerys Targaryen aka Mother of Dragons of HBO’s Game of Thrones
The fourth season of HBO’s hit series Game of Thrones premieres this Sunday, April 6. I’m typically not the biggest fan of the fantasy genre, but I became instantly hooked after my boyfriend forced me to watch the first season of this show. Emilia Clarke’s character, Daenerys Targaryen, is one of the primary reasons, as she is one of my favorites on the show. If you’re familiar with GOT, you know that the costuming on the show is incredibly elaborate and period specific. While I love Clarke’s wardrobe on the show as much as Madonna, who happened to borrow one of Daenerys’ iconic ensembles, the looks are not quite suitable for anything but a costume party.
So, for this star, I’m much more interested in her look off camera. Clarke recently landed the cover of InStyle UK, which features a spread of the actress modeling some unique and exciting spring designs from brands such as Burberry Prorsum, Christopher Kane, and Giles. Despite rocking some seriously haute couture labels for InStyle, Clarke’s personal style seems to be much more down to earth and attainable. She’s rumored to be a fan of the British retailer Topshop, which comes as no surprise since she herself is a London native. My favorite look from her InStyle UK spread is the one pictured above, and I decided to recreate the look with pieces from the actress’s beloved store, Topshop.
