Elizabeth and James Eyewear

If you’re looking for a little retail therapy this weekend but don’t want to leave your couch, head over to my go-to deal destination, Hautelook, for an awesome sale on Elizabeth and James eyewear. Just because summer is over doesn’t mean it’s not important to protect yourself from UVA and UVB rays in winter months. SPF moisturizer, lip balm, and protective eyewear are equally essential even when it’s cold outside! An added bonus of sporting sunglasses in the cooler months is shielding your eyes from brutal winter winds. Plus, sunglasses are a quick, easy, and cute way to complete an outfit no matter what the season.

I test drove three unique pairs of Elizabeth and James sunglasses and couldn’t be more in love. They’re comfortable, flattering, and get the job done when it comes to truly protecting your eyes. All Elizabeth and James sunglasses offer 100% UV protection against UVA and UVB rays. Fashion truly meets function with this stylish eyewear!

The first pair I tried is the Elizabeth and James Lexington frame. These sunglasses are an interesting, fashion forward twist on the classic wayfarer style. The purple horn hue is both unique and neutral – a medium tone gray with a dusty purple tint. They’re ideal for a laid back, casual look, they flatter a variety of face shapes, and they pair well with any ensemble. Three reasons to buy the Lexington sunglasses!

Original price: $155, Hautelook price: $44.97

If you’re searching for the perfect everyday eyewear, look no further than the Elizabeth and James Marion frames. These classic black or tortoise glasses will instantly become your go-to eyewear. The Marion style is my all time favorite. They’re over-sized without being over-powering – ideal for any face type and size. With such a timeless shape and color, these frames are bound to become a staple of your eyewear collection for seasons to come.

Original price: $265, Hautelook price: $49.97

Step outside the box and back in time with the vintage-inspired Elizabeth and James Lindall frames. Round sunglasses are often an overlooked shape in today’s eyewear market. I took a fashion risk with these Lindall sunglasses and couldn’t be more pleased to add a new and unique style to my eyewear assortment. Unfortunately, this pink horn hue is not available in this Hautelook event, but I’m loving the gray ink color!

I don’t know about you, but I am beyond pumped for the start of college football season. I take immense pride in my alma mater, the University of Georgia. I bleed red and black and am a die hard DAWG fan. Games kicked off this week, but the DAWGS play tomorrow, so that’s when my season officially starts.

Sadly, I no longer live in Athens (or Georgia for that matter) and won’t be at Sanford Stadium to cheer on my DAWGS in person as they go up against Clemson. Have no fear, I will be participating in the red out, dressed to the nines in my school colors, cheering on my team all the way from Madison, WI.

If I do make it to a game this season, there is one essential item I won’t leave home without: my GirlyGoGarter.

My mom actually discovered GirlyGoGarter while on a buying trip at AmericasMart Atlanta last January. She brought home a couple samples, and instantly, we were hooked. I remember thinking how perfect the GirlyGoGarter would have been for New Year’s Eve – a night where I struggled and scrambled around trying to figure out what bag I could stand to lug around all night. Never again! Since then I have used my GirlyGoGarter at concerts, festivals, or just a night out. Now, I can’t wait to get to Sanford Stadium and use my GirlyGoGarter on GAMEDAY!

The Essential Summer Accessory: Sunglasses

The official start of summer is merely eleven days away. We can already see the days getting longer, sunnier, and warmer. We’re going on vacations to the beach, lake, and mountains. We’re spending more time at concerts, festivals, poolside parties, or maybe just on our own porch. All of this outdoor activity is why the essential summer accessory is sunglasses. Sunglasses are a fun way to complete an outfit, and they can certainly make us feel more comfortable on a day when the sun is beating down and bright. However, sunglasses are more than a fashion accessory. They’re actually essential to our eye health as well. Just like applying sunscreen or at least SPF face moisturizer and lip balm are (or should be!) part of your summer beauty routine, so should putting on a pair of sunglasses before you leave the house. Sunglasses are the season’s ultimate fashion meets function accessory!

The first priority when choosing a pair of sunglasses is making sure they block 99% of UVA and UVB rays. This means you need to ditch the $10 sunglasses from Target or Forever 21. However, designer sunglasses can be expensive, like $100+ to $200+ expensive. For those of you out there who seem to have developed a bad habit of sitting on, breaking, or losing your sunglasses, this sounds like a scary investment. However, you can find quality, UV ray blocking sunglasses for a more reasonable price if you shop around and find a good deal. Well, today I’ve done a little leg work for you whether you’re looking to invest in a more pricey pair of sunglasses or looking for a deal on a designer pair.

Spring 2014 Fashion Trends

This weekend a co-worker asked me some of the Spring 2014 fashion trends I would recommend for her to incorporate into her wardrobe and spring style. It sounded like the perfect topic for a post!

When a new season rolls around, it’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking you need to rush out and buy a new wardrobe. The transition from winter to spring is particularly exciting as we anticipate the end of dreary, cold days and packing up our sweaters and boots. We just experienced the spring forward with daylight savings time. The days are a bit brighter and longer, and the dream of pedicures and bare legs is soon to be a reality. It’s not hard to get caught up in the heat of the moment (no pun intended) and splurge on new spring things for your closet.

Avoid breaking the bank and crushing your monthly budget. I’ve got 4 simple ways to incorporate spring fashion trends into your existing wardrobe, all under $100. Don’t feel pressure to try them all. Pick a few that speak to you and fit your lifestyle!
