Day 6 of NYFW Was Overflowing with Faves
SASS & BIDE: The unique color story of the Spring 2014 collection by Sass & Bide was the standout factor of this show. Like most other designers’ Spring 2014 collections, this one featured a fair number of head-to-toe all-white looks. However, when the colorful pieces stepped onto the runway, I was surprised by the palette. Nevertheless, the rich tones were certainly memorable and reflected the uniqueness of the brand.

MARC BY MARC JACOBS: The Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring 2014 collection mirrored the designer’s recently released beauty collection. The show contained neutrals from white to black, an array of warm pinks, and pops of turquoise. There were a surprising number of solids in the collection for a designer who is known for his bold prints, particularly in the Marc by Marc Jacobs line. However, what he lacked in prints he made up for in shimmer and shine (and there were a couple prints present, which gave the collection a signature Marc Jacobs tone).

OSCAR DE LA RENTA: This show was cheeky and classic, with vivid colors, statement florals, and super girly silhouettes. While other designers seem to be channeling the 60’s and 70’s through their Spring 2014 collections, Oscar de la Renta took us back to the 1950’s with a modern twist. With impeccable fit and charm, this Spring 2014 collection stayed true to the brand’s longstanding reputation to create pieces for the ultimate classy gal. My fave from the show: a lady is always pretty in pink!
